Matthew 24:4 & 5
"Take heed that no man deceive you, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many."
Vs. 11-13
"And many false prophets shall arise and deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."
2 Thessalonians 2 ..... the coming of the Ultimate Earthly Deceiver
Vs. 7-12
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way, and then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: even him whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved, and for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

The Bible has two uses for this particular Hebrew word which is: aruwm, Strong's H6175
The word 'aruwm' occurs 11 times in the Old Testament as: prudent (8), crafty (2), subtil (1).
The O.T.'s two uses:
a) crafty (demonic)
b) shrewd, sensible, prudent (godly)
James in the New Testament, speaks of 'two kinds of wisdom'....these enlarge upon the two definitions, one being demonic (crafty) and the other godly (shrewd, sensible, prudent):
James 3:14-17
if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Demonic subtilty:
Job 5:12
He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. (KJV)
.....He frustrates the plans of schemers (Living)
.....He aborts the schemes of conniving crooks,
so that none of their plots come to term. (Message)
Job 15:5 (these are the words of Eliphaz against Job. God didn't care for his assessment of the situation, (Job 42:7), but his usage of the word for 'crafty' was correct in the context in which he put it.)
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty. KJV
Your sins are telling your mouth what to say.
Your words are based on clever deception. (New Living)
You chose an education in fraud. (Message)
Genesis 3 opens with a description of the 'serpent', that he was more 'subtil' than any beast of the field,
Vs. 1
"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made....."
Here in the opening pages of Scripture, we see deception directly tied to the "Serpent" ....that Old Serpent, the Devil:
Rev. 12:
7And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
The Old Serpent was a liar from the beginning, lies are deceptions:
John 8:44
Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Godly prudence, wisdom:
Proverbs 12:16
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted. (New Living)
Fools have short fuses and explode all too quickly; the prudent quietly shrug off insults.(Message)
Proverbs 13:16
Every prudent man deals with knowledge....
Wise people think before they act.... (NL)
Proverbs 14:8
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
Simpletons are clothed with foolishness, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge. (NL)
Foolish dreamers live in a world of illusion;
wise realists plant their feet on the ground.(Message)

The 'war in the heavenlies'
is a war between
demonic subitlty
&
Godly wisdom,
the prize:
the souls of mankind.
People fall under deception for two reasons:
1) they are ignorant of the truth.
2) they reject the truth when they hear it.
Ignorance:
Hosea 4:6
| My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. | | |
Rejection
Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.
1:25
Who changed the truth of God into a lie....
***********************
"Fatal is the spirit of delusion"......
those who are deceived through ignorance or outright rejection of the truth when they hear it, (which indicates the embracing of the delusion/deception) are doomed.
Without acknowledgement of the truth there is no opportunity for repentance...
2 Timothy 2:25
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves;
if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
God always gives 'opportunity to repent' if a person 'acknowledges' the truth/Truth.
He is gracious in mercy and slow to wrath....there is no need to stay deceived.
One can learn the truth.
One can embrace the truth and reject the delusion.
I am holding out hope to those who need it.
You can learn.
You can repent of your acceptance of the delusion.
There is only One Truth, or one Who IS TRUTH:
Jesus, the Christ.....born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He arose again the third day and is coming again to judge
the living and the dead.
He said:
I AM the Truth.
It is one thing to say, "I have truth," or "I know the truth,"
it is another entirely to say:
"I AM TRUTH".
John 14:6
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Invite TRUTH into your heart today and let HIM reign there.
You won't be deceived!
