"Amazon May Soon Need to Collect Sales Tax"
California visitors to Wal-Mart Stores' (WMT) website must pay $214 to buy a Philips Electronics (PHG) 22-inch LCD HDTV, one of the hottest-selling flat-panel televisions on the Web. Customers of Amazon.com (AMZN) in that state see a price of $194 for the same product. The discrepancy stems largely from something that dates back to Julius Caesar: sales tax. Wal-Mart, with about 100 stores in California, has to collect it. Amazon, with no stores in California—or anywhere else, for that matter—does not.

States' Rights Issues: "WH in clash with Indiana over Planned Parenthood Funding"
The White House on Thursday urged Indiana to back off a new law that would withhold taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood, setting up a clash with the state after formally declaring its policy illegal.

Archeological discoveries: "Beneath Jerusalem, an Underground City Takes Shape"
Underneath the crowded alleys and holy sites of old Jerusalem, hundreds of people are snaking at any given moment through tunnels, vaulted medieval chambers and Roman sewers in a rapidly expanding subterranean city invisible from the streets above.
At street level, the walled Old City is an energetic and fractious enclave with a physical landscape that is predominantly Islamic and a population that is mainly Arab.
Underground Jerusalem is different: Here the noise recedes, the fierce Middle Eastern sun disappears, and light comes from fluorescent bulbs. There is a smell of earth and mildew, and the geography recalls a Jewish city that existed 2,000 years ago.
Jewish Issues: "‘Circumcision and the Special City"
San Francisco's upcoming vote on banning circumcision:
In 2010 San Francisco supervisors banned Happy Meals. They showed no regard for parental choice.
So it should not come as a shock that activists have managed to put a measure on the November ballot that essentially would outlaw the circumcision of baby boys. If it passes, then parents won't be able to choose to circumcise their infant sons. The penalty for the "genital cutting of male minors" will be a $1,000 fine and/or up to a year in jail.

Big Brother: "There’s a Secret Patriot Act, Senator Says"
You think you understand how the Patriot Act allows the government to spy on its citizens. Sen. Ron Wyden says it’s worse than you know.
Congress is set to reauthorize three controversial provisions of the surveillance law as early as Thursday. Wyden (D-Oregon) says that powers they grant the government on their face, the government applies a far broader legal interpretation — an interpretation that the government has conveniently classified, so it cannot be publicly assessed or challenged. But one prominent Patriot-watcher asserts that the secret interpretation empowers the government to deploy ”dragnets” for massive amounts of information on private citizens; the government portrays its data-collection efforts much differently.

Big Brother: "U.S. police state begins exponential expansion"
The recent Indiana Supreme Court ruling against the U.S. Constitution — rendering the Fourth Amendment null and void in that state by terminating citizens' right to resist illegal police entry into their homes — is only the latest unconscionable step in a series of actions designed to unravel each and every portion of the Bill of Rights.
The ruling by Indiana's patently leftist court is designed to complement and enhance the already jack-booted Obama police-state march into America's states, cities, and homes.

Big Brother: "Obama's desire for data on your kid"
This plan calls for a computerized system to track all Americans from cradle to grave by cross-linking all their school and college academic and extra-curricular records, including tests and appraisals by supervisors and peers, with health, welfare, employment and income data. The data gatherers used to talk about collecting K-12 data, and then they moved to Pre-K-16, and now their lingo is pre-birth to entry into the workforce.
Persecuted Church: "Christian Church Burnings Are Happening All Over The World And The U.S. Media Is Deadly Silent About It"
Did you know that hundreds of church burnings have taken place all over the globe so far in 2011? For a large percentage of those of you that are reading this article, this is the first that you have heard of it. And do you want to know why? News stories about church burnings and the persecution of Christians around the world are not "politically correct" enough to get into the mainstream media most of the time.

One World Religion: "A revolutionary development: Religions are speaking in common tongues"
Religious fanatics capture headlines, but the big story is that interfaith cooperation has reached unprecedented levels. This is because religious communities are increasingly laying aside denominational jargon for the language of public collaboration.

NWO: "AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH"
“Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars,” a “Top Secret” Operations Research Technical Manual TM-SW7905.1 was adopted by the Policy Committee of the Bilderberg Group during its first known meeting in 1954. A copy found in 1969 was in the possession of Naval Intelligence and on July 7, 1986 found in an IBM copier that had been purchased at a surplus sale. Nestled between many graphs which I don’t pretend to understand were the “weapons” for social engineering this New World Order organization planned to use – control the media, subvert education, control the economy and keep the public distracted which brings me back to the Blazer basketball team. The plan for this New World Order (NWO) Bilderberg crowd is to keep Americans distracted so they won’t know what is going on behind the scenes. Their plan is to reduce Americans to a sixth grade learning level and keep them entertained with nothing of value. Milton William Cooper in his 1991 book Behold a Pale Horse has an opening chapter in his book about this document.

Persecuted Church: "Christians are being kicked out of the ME save for Israel"
This is the saddest Easter in the long epic of Arab Christianity: The cross is near extinction in the lands of its origin. The much-vaunted diversity of the Middle East is going to be reduced to the flat monotony of a single religion, Islam, and to a handful of languages.
In 1919, the Egyptian revolution adopted a green flag with the crescent and the cross. Both Muslims and Christians participated in the nationalist revolution against British colonialism. Now, according to the Egyptian Federation for Human Rights, more than 70 Christians a week are asking to leave the country due to Islamist threats.
The numbers are telling. Today there is only one Middle Eastern country where the number of Christians has grown: Israel. As documented in the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, the Christian community that numbered 34,000 people in 1949 is now 163,000-strong, and will reach 187,000 in 2020.

Middle East Peace Process: "FATAH CHOOSES PEACE WITH HAMAS TERRORISTS, NOT WITH ISRAEL: Please pray for the Palestinian people"
Posted: April 27, 2011 by joelcrosenberg
The leaders of the beleguered Palestinian people chose to embrace terrorists today, not the road to true peace, justice and reconciliation. What a tragedy. Instead of spending the last 18 months engaging in peace talks with Israel, PLO leader Mahmoud Abbas has spent the last several months engaged in secret peace talks with rival Hamas, the radical Islamic terrorist group that calls for the annihilation of the Jewish State. The talks, brokered by Egyptian intelligence, concluded with an announcement today that Fatah (PLO) and Hamas have sealed a unity agreement that some reporters are describing as “an historic reconciliation deal.”

Election 2012: "Bill Fletcher, Jr. – Leading Socialist Calls for Mass Actions, Law Breaking, to Re-Elect Obama"
While many on the US left express disappointment with Obama, when push comes to shove, they will back their man to the hilt,
The US left understands that 2012 is decisive.
If a conservative Republican wins, they know that many of the US left’s hard fought gains will be rolled back.
If Obama wins, they know the socialist juggernaut will be virtually unstoppable.
Consequently the US left, from Democrats to socialists, to Marxist-Leninists, will throw every thing into this election. Look for mass protests, street violence, intimidation and mass law breaking, as the US left mounts a do or die, last gasp “Thet Offensive” against Middle America and its values.

"Religious Faith Is Still Good News for America"
For almost four hundred years, the King James Bible provided for England and America what Ryken, quoting a sociologist, calls “the mythology of a culture”: “the framework of beliefs, values, expressive symbols, and artistic motifs in terms of which individuals define their world, express their feelings, and make their judgments.”
That framework is no longer pervasive in America, much less England. Instead, recent decades have been marked by challenges to religious liberty in both nations, efforts that misconstrue the role of religion in the public square, and an increasing pluralism that makes it harder to achieve moral consensus on public policy.

Religious Liberty Issues: "From Culture Wars to Conscience Wars: Emerging Threats to Conscience"
Abstract: Today, religious liberty issues are more complicated than simply freedom from government interference in religious worship or teaching. Threats to religious liberty and respect for conscience are emerging in the health care field, in the area of institutional religious freedom, and in the context of issues involving same-sex marriage and nondiscrimination policies. Religious liberty and respect for conscience should be encouraged and protected, both in civil society and in law and policy, as an effective and principled way to promote social peace and civic fraternity in an increasingly pluralistic society.

Campaign 2012: "President Obama heckled in San Francisco by Democratic activists wanting change"
WASHINGTON - An irked President Obama got punked in San Francisco by his own side on Thursday at what was supposed to be just another fund-raising lovefest on the Left Coast.
Democratic activists apparently unhappy with Obama's tilt to the middle - and even unhappier with the treatment of the soldier accused of giving classified documents to WikiLeaks - interrupted the President's buckraking pitch at a St. Regis Hotel breakfast.
A woman later identified as Naomi Pitcairn of Oakland stood up and announced: "Mr. President, we wrote a song - can we sing it for you?"

Pope: Technology can't replace powers of God
Talkbacks (7) VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict led Roman Catholics into Holy Week celebrations, telling a Palm Sunday crowd that man will pay the price for his pride if he believes technology can give him the powers of God.
Under a splendid Roman sun, the German pope presided at a colorful celebration where tens of thousands of people waved palm and olive branches to commemorate Jesus' entry into Jerusalem the week before he was crucified.

Gandhi Reconsidered: When Paganism Met Progressivism
When an Indian-born man I knew a couple of decades ago expressed an intense dislike for Mohandas Gandhi, I found it a bit surprising. Wasn’t the “Great Soul,” that quintessential 20th-century icon, India’s George Washington?
That certainly is the narrative created by historians — who, history has taught us, can tell a lie — and works such as Richard Attenborough’s award-winning 1982 film Gandhi. But there is a reason why Indian-born novelist Salman Rushdie responded to that movie by lamenting, “Deification is an Indian disease. Why should Attenborough do it?” And with Gandhi back in the news owing to a newly published biography about him, it’s fitting to examine what that reason might be.

Upheaval in the Middle East: "First panic in Assad regime: High Syrian officials evacuate families"
Damascus was alive with rumors Thursday, April 14 that President Bashar Assad and his family were preparing to flee to Saudi Arabia. They were, sparked by the discovery that several high-ranking Syrian officials and army officers were evacuating their families from the capital to Persian Gulf emirates.
US intelligence officials also disclosed that Iran was secretly helping Assad crack down on his own people, providing gear to suppress crowds and assistance in blocking and monitoring protesters' Internet and cell phones.
