Britain: "Christians are more militant than Muslims, says Government's equalities boss "
Muslims are integrating into British society better than many Christians, according to the head of the Government's equality watchdog
Trevor Phillips warned that "an old time religion incompatible with modern society" is driving the revival in the Anglican and Catholic Churches and clashing with mainstream views, especially on homosexuality.
He accused Christians, particularly evangelicals, of being more militant than Muslims in complaining about discrimination, arguing that many of the claims are motivated by a desire for greater political influence.

Allen West, some Republicans rethink military's role, sparking GOP debate
BOCA RATON — U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, is about as hawkish as they come on Afghanistan, but he sounded war-weary at a recent town hall meeting.
"It has been very frustrating for me to sit back and look at us be involved in the nation-building, occupation-style warfare. It drains your economic resources. Ten years, 11 years is too long for us to be mired down in a place like Iraq or Afghanistan," West said at Lynn University.
West, a retired Army lieutenant colonel who will visit Afghanistan this week, remains supportive of the U.S. presence there and recently voted against a Democratic proposal to speed troop withdrawals.
But his comments at the town hall and desire to eventually move to a more mobile, strike-oriented presence in Afghanistan are part of a growing debate within the GOP over military involvements in Afghanistan and Libya.

China's ghost towns: New satellite pictures show massive skyscraper cities which are STILL completely empty....
As sprawling housing developments and skyscrapers in one of the world's most populous countries, these tower blocks and recently-built neighbourhoods should be busy and swarming with people.
But on closer inspection these stunning pictures show elaborate public buildings and open spaces which are left completely empty.
The most recent pictures of unused housing emerged as China announced plans to build 20 cities a year for the next 20 years.

Economy: "Top Russian Economic Official Says Country Will Keep Selling US Debt "
Russia plans to keep selling its holdings of U.S. government debt, according to presidential economic advisor Arkady Dvorkovich.
On whether or not treasuries remained a good investment, Dvorkovich told the Wall Street Journal, "On an absolute basis, yes. On a relative basis, compared to other investments, of course not."
Russia has cut their position in U.S. debt substantially since late last year, down from $176.3 billion in October of 2010 to $125.4 billion, according to the WSJ.

Apple turns "Big Brother"
Last week, the tech world was rocked by reports that Apple was patenting technology that would allow outsiders to remotely shut off the camera in an iPhone. The scenario involved people attending concerts and recording video to share with their friends, something that big record companies frown on. Under the patent, a remote signal from a transmitter in the concert hall would tell your iPhone camera to shut down until the concert was over.
We've got you under your skin: Battery-free surveillance device that can be implanted under the flesh....
A new generation of battery-free surveillance devices which can be implanted under the skin and transmit over huge distances via wireless have been developed by scientists.
Researchers are working on nano machines that could be injected into the arms of patients and then report back to doctors who are monitoring them from miles away.
They would be powered by the motion of a person walking, or even the pulse of a blood vessel, so would never stop working until the person died.

Science: "Now you could get X-Men super powers after scientists develop world's first 'living laser' beam"
Comic book fans have long dreamed of emitting a powerful beam from their eyes like superhero Cyclops of the X-Men.
Now that dream could one day become a reality after scientists this week announced they have created the world’s first ‘living laser’, a biological cell which is engineered to produce a laser beam.
A pioneering team used a cell from a human kidney which had been genetically engineered to produce light in the same way as a jellyfish and flooded it with blue light.

"Amazon May Soon Need to Collect Sales Tax"
California visitors to Wal-Mart Stores' (WMT) website must pay $214 to buy a Philips Electronics (PHG) 22-inch LCD HDTV, one of the hottest-selling flat-panel televisions on the Web. Customers of Amazon.com (AMZN) in that state see a price of $194 for the same product. The discrepancy stems largely from something that dates back to Julius Caesar: sales tax. Wal-Mart, with about 100 stores in California, has to collect it. Amazon, with no stores in California—or anywhere else, for that matter—does not.

Archeological discoveries: "Beneath Jerusalem, an Underground City Takes Shape"
Underneath the crowded alleys and holy sites of old Jerusalem, hundreds of people are snaking at any given moment through tunnels, vaulted medieval chambers and Roman sewers in a rapidly expanding subterranean city invisible from the streets above.
At street level, the walled Old City is an energetic and fractious enclave with a physical landscape that is predominantly Islamic and a population that is mainly Arab.
Underground Jerusalem is different: Here the noise recedes, the fierce Middle Eastern sun disappears, and light comes from fluorescent bulbs. There is a smell of earth and mildew, and the geography recalls a Jewish city that existed 2,000 years ago.
Jewish Issues: "‘Circumcision and the Special City"
San Francisco's upcoming vote on banning circumcision:
In 2010 San Francisco supervisors banned Happy Meals. They showed no regard for parental choice.
So it should not come as a shock that activists have managed to put a measure on the November ballot that essentially would outlaw the circumcision of baby boys. If it passes, then parents won't be able to choose to circumcise their infant sons. The penalty for the "genital cutting of male minors" will be a $1,000 fine and/or up to a year in jail.

Big Brother: "There’s a Secret Patriot Act, Senator Says"
You think you understand how the Patriot Act allows the government to spy on its citizens. Sen. Ron Wyden says it’s worse than you know.
Congress is set to reauthorize three controversial provisions of the surveillance law as early as Thursday. Wyden (D-Oregon) says that powers they grant the government on their face, the government applies a far broader legal interpretation — an interpretation that the government has conveniently classified, so it cannot be publicly assessed or challenged. But one prominent Patriot-watcher asserts that the secret interpretation empowers the government to deploy ”dragnets” for massive amounts of information on private citizens; the government portrays its data-collection efforts much differently.

Big Brother: "U.S. police state begins exponential expansion"
The recent Indiana Supreme Court ruling against the U.S. Constitution — rendering the Fourth Amendment null and void in that state by terminating citizens' right to resist illegal police entry into their homes — is only the latest unconscionable step in a series of actions designed to unravel each and every portion of the Bill of Rights.
The ruling by Indiana's patently leftist court is designed to complement and enhance the already jack-booted Obama police-state march into America's states, cities, and homes.

Big Brother: "Obama's desire for data on your kid"
This plan calls for a computerized system to track all Americans from cradle to grave by cross-linking all their school and college academic and extra-curricular records, including tests and appraisals by supervisors and peers, with health, welfare, employment and income data. The data gatherers used to talk about collecting K-12 data, and then they moved to Pre-K-16, and now their lingo is pre-birth to entry into the workforce.
Persecuted Church: "Christian Church Burnings Are Happening All Over The World And The U.S. Media Is Deadly Silent About It"
Did you know that hundreds of church burnings have taken place all over the globe so far in 2011? For a large percentage of those of you that are reading this article, this is the first that you have heard of it. And do you want to know why? News stories about church burnings and the persecution of Christians around the world are not "politically correct" enough to get into the mainstream media most of the time.

One World Religion: "A revolutionary development: Religions are speaking in common tongues"
Religious fanatics capture headlines, but the big story is that interfaith cooperation has reached unprecedented levels. This is because religious communities are increasingly laying aside denominational jargon for the language of public collaboration.
